Boom, Bang and a Blast!

Friday, December 29, 2006

That’s the description of the year that was but not necessarily in that order :)

Spent the Christmas weekend in the reunion at the alma matter – felt good to walk around ISB again and was happy to see so many batch mates who had come down for Solstice – 2 nights of parties and long hours of volleyball, foosball and literature to revive all the good memories of the one year spent with amazing people in the peaceful place. Also did manage to meet a good number of the current batch – as like in our batch, there are many who are tensed about placements and the few who always have that enthusiastic smile and take life as it comes… did my best to at least help with resumes if not give too much gyan that I myself don’t believe in! I don’t know if I would ever meet so many of my batch mates together ever again… I am sure it would never be the same to walk in there again!

The new year weekend is going to be at the Ganpatiphule beach… reminds me of the Gokarna trip a few months ago… am just planning to laze around in the waters and have a rocking time out there… a good bunch of 15 people on this trip… that would be different.

Am looking forward to the new year… The year that was – was very different! Tried things that I never thought I would… did things I might never do again… but then life never stops being exciting and I am sure 2007 would also be so :)

Movie marathon & the early morning stroll

Sunday, December 10, 2006

The party began at 9 30 pm with 6 people in the room beginning to watch ‘Insider’… the hosts, the gang, the line up of movies, the dim lights and the hard and soft drinks and cozy beds invited at least another 15 people during the course of the night when people’s singing talents where exhibited, dinner was served, new cocktails were experimented, a supposed scary movie (but seemed more of a horror porn!) was started and stopped, ‘Mystic River’ was screened and people slept and woke up in constant intervals! It was 5 am when many left, some slept and the still enthusiastic few decided to hit the Taj Lands End Café shop :-) A few cafés and sandwiches was followed by an early morning stroll along banstand wondering how long we all need to work to just own a balcony facing the sea here!

I was almost asleep at the end of the drive when it was breakfast time and what more, we head to ‘Madras Café’ for some dosas and coffees! And it didn’t end here, we actually started watching ‘Memento’ when we came back home… but everyone was struggling to keep the eyes open, let alone understand what was happening in the movie. A realization to switch the television off and I was woken up and served maggi for lunch!

That was one splendid weekend and I am not gonna go near movies at least for a week, but then there is so much to do in this place and with this awesome set of enthusiastic people!

A good day… I smiled and laughed as I wanted to!

In Hyderabad, a kick-off meeting for an IPO… 2 banker teams, one auditor team, 3 lawyer teams and the company… long presentations and never ending CPs… MBAs never stop :) An escape from the formal dinner (thanks to my VP) and a good evening at the good ol’ Southern Spice… remembering the eighth term and the bike rides!

Waiting for a phone call… remembering some more good times and people I have known… life is peaceful!

Change is a good thing… so I change my mind too often!

There are people whom you meet, you wish you never had to say goodbye
There are people whom you meet, you never do say goodbye
There are people whom you meet, you cherish every moment spent and never feel apart after a goodbye

There are people whom you meet, you are happy to say goodbye
And I am surprised there are people whom you meet, you never wish you had met and don’t need a goodbye!
A realization of what I deserve and what I am worth!

The 6 month journey

The 10 musketeers who joined I-Sec 6 months back celebrated their journey with a dinner at ‘Gaylords’ a couple of weeks back… a dinner that was planned, postponed, cancelled and still managed to have full attendance along with better halves… a toast to first year associates who managed to sleep through client meetings, missed 9 am flights and prepared banking credentials for a pharmaceutical company pitch!! We are all still there… and going on strong… a great bunch of people who have sailed from museum attractions to research analysts to investment bankers and still a long way to go.. hopefully together!
