'Business presentation skills' & ‘Leadership from Siachen’

Sunday, August 07, 2005

It has been a pretty long day and it is not yet over!! Thought I would take a break to write…

Started with the Business presentation skills workshop – 2 study groups – 12 members – worked from 9 am to 5 pm. We had 4 activities during the day which included 2 presentations – introducing the person one knows the least and then talking about the most intense experience of one’s life. Each activity was recorded and then replayed and feedback given for each of the 12 members. The activities were good and the feedback was important to improve oneself. There was considerable improvement from the first to the second presentation that each of us gave today. We have two more to give tomorrow for which I am still in the process of preparing.

We also had a talk by Capt. Raghu Raman on ‘Leadership from Siachen’… the most inspiring talk I have listened to in the recent times… one of the best talks! Lots of confidential photos n videos of the Indian Army were shown. As most us think, the soldiers don’t fight for the country, they don’t fight for the money, but only do it for their leader. It requires the ultimate ability to motivate 19 people living in the same room with the 20th person’s corpse for 5 months and 28 days of a 6 months task in a -40 degree Celsius environment! Left me thinking hard about the gruelities some experience and the abilities of a few men in the highest battlefield of the world!

Do read my previous blog ‘Rope – By Capt. Raghu Raman’ – one of the articles written by the speaker.
