ISB... I would miss you

Friday, April 07, 2006

Things are moving too fast… Just a week back, the campus was empty… It just didn’t feel like the last few days… It was just relieved faces… Today, we had the dress rehearsal for the Big Event tomorrow and the batch photograph. This was followed by the Award Ceremony to honor the Torchbearers and the Young Leaders of ISB, the Teaching Associate of the year and above all the ‘Professor of the year – Core Terms’ and the ‘Professor of the year – Elective Terms’. Someday, I would love to teach a class the way Prof. Krishna Kumar taught us Macroeconomics… can add this to ‘Impossible but seems possible’ category of my dreams… felt privileged to see the man himself back again to receive the award today… and he is not alone in the list of great professors we have had here… maybe I would never meet these kinda people again in one place in my life! Am I just lucky to be here?... Today I felt that departing feeling that makes the heart sink… All the events that are unfolding here make me feel great, but at the same time heavy!

The week was dedicated to spend quality time with people who made a difference to my life here… have visited multitude of restaurants in the city, watched movies, coffees and ice creams at post-midnight sessions, made noises as a group to be noticed in every possible outing, had city exploring bike rides at random timings and random speeds, at last saw Golconda to say for sure that I have seen a tourist location in the city I stayed for a year… and many more things that got me more closer to the people and the place I have known for the past one year!

Same time tomorrow, we would have received our certificates from Ratan Tata… A year back we were in awe of this place… a few months down the line, we started taking too many things for granted… today was a day to remind us again of what difference this place has made to our lives… tomorrow would be the ultimate realization!

A lot of things about me have remained the same over many years… there are also a few things that keep changing… every place I have been has had some impact on the way I behave and the way I think and the way I do things in my life… I wouldn’t say this year had the maximum impact in my life, but has definitely imparted many a change to the attitude of the gal who stood clueless in the middle of a busy street! A year back, I didn’t think I would be what I am today… so I am indebted to the place, the life here and the people around who showed there is still a long way to go!
