Goof up

When I was 6 months into my job and just 2 months into actually starting to work… I had one of the most memorable days! A mobile lost, a flight missed, the lost cab and my grand entrance to the closing meeting…

A mail I wrote that day…
“Am dead!
Have missed my flight... with all the documents and printouts in my bag!! Am so scared right now... meeting with executive director & some 4 other heads :( i worked so much for this deal... i dont want it to get screwed :( am sure A is not gonna work with me again and I am gonna have such a bad name for this... am scared to walk into that meeting room now.

and I dont have my mobile... left it in the taxi yest night and had to call the taxi driver at 2 am n speak in my broken hindi to leave it with drunk N who was in office... and had to download some alarm clock from the internet to wake me up!

sitting in the airport n waiting for the next flight now... I wish I cud restart this day

was reminded of this ‘coz the recipient of the mail sent it back to me :)

The week that was…

Saturday, May 26, 2007

Was mad at work… don’t think I have put so much stress on myself for work as long as I can remember! And I was running around all the time… jumping from one thing to another… trying to do too many things and sleeping with 546 page DRHPs… well, I didn’t have a choice!

I am waiting to take a break…. Goa awaits… next weekend.

And comes Friday evening… the house and the carpet warming party had been scheduled for today… but then nothing was organized nor was my week’s busy schedule near completion… and when I managed to get the food, drinks, movies and the ambience in place, I was drunk dead realizing how difficult it is to play the host!

‘Negotiator’ was good…’The last kiss’ lacked the romance or the comedy – the genres it was supposed to belong to and managed to put everyone to sleep except me… well, the Japanese would wake up soon and I am back at work to keep them occupied at least for their breakfast session.
well, the crowd was entertained, the carpet quenched its thirst and I am trying to convice myself I don't need more.

Why men lie and women cry

Thursday, March 08, 2007

If Cha Bar or Tea center decide to do an IPO, it would be oversubscribed by ISEC employees than their own employees! During our last visit to Oxford cha bar, unfortunately the seats were all taken and we decided to loiter around some interesting books. The line caught my attention - "why women love men with small, tight bums?”

My instant reaction was to turn to the friend next to me and ask “Is this true”! I wish I could have captured the reaction on his face :) after some time he managed to say, “How would I know!”… good point.

So went to the only female friend around and asked her about it… she said “yeah, they say its true!”… there goes one more woman who doesn’t know it… hahaha, I don’t have to feel bad… but then she isn’t a representative sample ;-)

By now, the book had managed to capture everyone’s attention and we started gathering around to read some quotes and laugh out aloud, as usual as if we own the place :) soon!

“My wife said if I didn’t stop being so obsessed with Manchester United, she’d leave me. I’m really going to miss her”

“A man is twice as likely as a woman to be involved in a car accident while talking on a mobile phone”

“If a man is with his friends and not talking, it doesn’t mean they’ve had an argument; he’s just fire-gazing”

“For woman, it’s not size that matters, it’s frequency”

Men don’t get lost – they simply discover alternative destinations”

“Why can men only seem to do one thing at a time?” (one of my favorites)

Men don’t want to know what’s on television, they want to know what else is on television” (another one of my favorites)

“Women use silence to punish men. But men love silence”

“Why do men feel the need to be right about everything?”

… each of us had our own share of agreements and disagreements and just for the amount of laughter it brought out of us, the book has been bought and added to ISEC library by urs truly for shared joy!

And this post is for the innumerable friends of mine who have been complaining for quite some time that my posts are becoming simran-ish… and for Jawz who said these days she can understand sim’s blog more than mine!!
