Two Extremes of India

Sunday, January 08, 2006

India is a land of diverse cultures… in MBA language “Diversity is India’s competitive advantage!” But not many homes in this country appreciate this diversity… In a land in which arranged marriage is still the rule of the day for many 25+ year olds and “a cross-sub-caste wedding is considered to be a sin”, my friend’s family has welcomed an American daughter-in-law as one among them.

Both the families...
The wedding...

Read the experiences in the bride’s own words to see how much every person in the family has enjoyed this experience.

I don’t know how many more years it would take for many families to appreciate the diversity inside this country, let alone the diversity in the world!

Your friend's really lucky to have a family like that!

Sorry I amn't visiting your blog as much as I ought to... I'm dead busy these days, as Saarang's coming up... I'll catch up anyways...

All the best for Sarang :-)
Seems like your creativity is at its peak (or is this the normal level ;-))
Great designs dear, keep up the good work!

I read all the 3 blogs - your friend's (again she writes very well), the bride's and the bride's mother's. Amazing wedding !!! It's sad that they couldn't be together for some more time.
Your friend exactly captured my feelings during my sister's wedding. I was going to share her with another guy who'll know more about her (if he didn't know already) than I'll in the future. I still can't forgive him for taking her far away from India.

Having seen it all happen i have the same feelings.. i wish every family would be so forthcomin.. Infact sometimes i think we have to much hypocrisy surrounding our weddings that we could all do away with!! but the future lies in our hands.. if we can make this change then we better be strong abt it!!
