Philadelphia… amazing movie… Thanks to the LDP professor for choosing this for our second assignment on movie and psychology of the character analysis. I have no idea what I am going to write in the LDP essay, but I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, thanks to someone who had a plasma television at his place!

I have heard and read a little about homosexuality and AIDS, but never got to have a serious discussion with anyone on the same… the movie throws good insights on how the disease was looked down in the 1990s in the US and still in our country… the movie is not just about AIDS, but also about homosexuality. The psychology of Andrew Beckett (Tom Hanks), who has the deadly disease and is ready to fight his ex-employers for firing him on the basis of discrimination, when he is actually dying, needs courage that is well portrayed in the movie… But he is a normal human being too… which is portrayed in the fear that is inside him which he doesn’t allow to surface. Well done Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington.

Looking at the courage that Andrew Beckett portrays, I was thinking of some of the situations where I had faced challenges and handled them with courage that was shown to the world but had tremendous fear within. But by trying to show the world I am courageous, I tend to believe in myself that I can go on!

Exams over again… official end of Term-3 only after I submit the LDP assignment on Thursday.

Oh yeah, it is a great movie and handles the sensitive topics really well. Of course, TH and DW are great in the movie :)
